Want to (re)Ignite your passion for your craft and process, find new perspectives on specificity, transcend stopping places, take stock of where you are, and get clear about what's next for you in your growth as an actor? This workshop will bring new life, vigor, presence and fulfillment to your performance while being in community with your fellow actors. Participants will be assigned a partner (or you can pair up if you know someone taking the class) in advance of the workshop. Pairs will prep a 3-5 minute scene of their choice. The focus will be on theatre, but film or television projects are also acceptable choices.

REGISTRATION CRITERIA: As a master class, we will be addressing the specific needs of actors who have significant training and experience acting professionally in stage, tv and/or film.

Michael D. Cohen is an actor, writer, director and acting coach. He has over 20 years of teaching experience including serving as Co-Chair of the SAG-AFTRA Hollywood Conservatory at the American Film Institute, and faculty lecturer for the University of Texas at Austin in Hollywood. He teaches through his own studio the Michael D. Cohen Acting Studio in Los Angeles, and leads acting workshops regularly for SAG-AFTRA and for The Groundlings School.
Michael has an M.Ed. in adult education focusing on transformative education for performers, and he brings a unique mind-body approach to acting training. He is trained in Brainspotting, a trauma informed eye movement technique that facilitates actors to move through performance blocks, and is a powerful technique for developing characters for performance.
Michael has over 30 years experience as a professional actor including being a series regular on Nickelodeon's hit sit-coms Henry Danger and Danger Force. He has dozens of television and film acting credits including Suburbicon directed by George Clooney, and the Oscar-nominated film Whiplash.
He is a director member of the DGA (Directors Guild of America). His short film "Roughing It" won numerous film festival awards for writing, directing, acting, and producing. He has been a Rogue Machine Theatre member since 2009, and is also an avid mountaineer and rock climber.
