Rogue Machine has been serving the Greater Los Angeles community for 16 years and has gained a national and international reputation for developing and producing new plays and plays new to Los Angeles.
Since 2008, we have produced more than 30 world premieres, primarily by local playwrights and 35 West Coast or Southern California premieres. 9 of the world premieres have had significant subsequent productions elsewhere or have been published, including 2 Off-Broadway Productions, 2 major regional theatre productions and a production in London at the prestigious Donmar Warehouse. We received the Ovation Award for Best Season (2017). Our fellow nominees included The Geffen, The Wallace and The Center Theatre Group. That year we were nominated for 11 other Ovation Awards. We have been nominated for the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and Ovation Award for Best Production of the Year in six of the last ten years and have won the LADCC Award 4 times and The Ovation Award 3 times. In addition, Rogue Machine has been recognized with more than 60 other awards including playwriting, directing, design and acting awards. In 2017, we were awarded the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle 2016 Polly Warfield Award for outstanding season (2016). We are one of only 2 companies to win this award twice in the last 15 years.

Three of the world premiere plays we developed in house have gone on to be motion pictures including Kemp Powers’ Academy Award nominated One Night in Miami… and John Pollono's Small Engine Repair and soon to come Riff Raff, starring Dustin Hoffman and Brian Cox.

In December of 2021 we took residence in Los Angeles historic Matrix Theatre. This extraordinary opportunity for Rogue Machine promises us a permanent new home and a long and strong future.
In 2022 and 2023 we have so far produced 7 productions including 4 world premieres by California based writers, an NNPN rolling world premiere and the US premiere of Daf James’ On the Other Hand, We’re Happy which was honored by the Los Angeles Drama Critics with an outstanding production of the year award. Charles McNulty, of the LA Times, said RM had the strongest season of any theatre, large or small, in 2022.
