WORLD PREMIERE
OCTOBER 10 - NOVEMBER 15, 2026
Joy Gregory's
Saint Megan
Directed by Lina Patel
MainStage
Inspired by the story of Megan Phelps-Roper, granddaughter of the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church, a hyper-Calvinist sect notorious for their outrageous picketing of military funerals.
When Megan defends her faith online, her curious mind and honest conversations threaten to sever her from family and the only community she has ever known.
Part family drama, part spiritual reckoning, part Twitter conversation, with music video parodies and Shaker dances, Saint Megan explores the long history of American Christian zealotry, our longing for salvation, and the moral courage it takes to face uncertainty.
Conversation Series to follow Sunday performances on October 18, 25, November 1 and 8.
Joy Gregory’s Saint Megan is an Ojai Playwright’s Conference Finalist and the first mainstage production of a new work developed in Rogue Machine’s Playwrights’ Roundtable led by Lina Patel, who will be directing.
This play is a fictionalized dramatization inspired by real events and public figures. Certain scenes, timelines, and dialogue have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes.
Kila Kitu’s four part Sunday Conversation Series on themes related to Free Speech, Family Systems, Meditation Movement, and Religion and Social Change, are free and open to anyone who attends any show.
